Workshops lead to TV appearanceDaily Post 1st June 2011 Business Section

A North Wales businesswoman is appearing on national television next Monday (June 6th) thanks to her latest project. Dawn Roberts, Managing Director of Outperform Services, who specialise in sales campaign management and helping sales teams and individuals to sell more, is currently giving up some of her time to work for free, to help job seekers find employment.

Already several free workshops for the unemployed aimed at ‘selling yourself’ to potential employers have been held in Rhyl and Colwyn Bay and there are plans to hold more throughout North Wales.  Now Dawn’s initiative has been picked up by BBC TV’s Panorama and she has been interviewed and filmed for a programme about Rhyl which includes schemes to help unemployed people get back to work.

The programme is due to air on Monday 6th June at 20:30pm on BBC1.

dawn black and whiteDawn met one of the producers from prime time BBC TV’s Panorama recently and spoke to her about her work which also involves training and coaching management skills.

Dawn said: “I am delighted and honoured that the work we are doing in North Wales is being recognised nationally. Hopefully the programme will encourage other business people to get involved.

“This is something I am very passionate about and I want to help as many people as possible in their quest for a job. “Some of these people have never worked or are third generation unemployed and we need to look at the person and not the CV.  Anyone who can get three children under the age of five into bed each night has excellent negotiation skills and a lone parent providing for a family on benefits must have amazing budgeting and prioritisation skills.

“Some people really do want to work and are just looking for that lucky break.”
